‘What A Shame’ — Charly Boy Faults Nigerians Over Leadership Failures 

Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticised Nigerians over what he described as their failure to hold political leaders accountable.

Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada, made the remarks in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday.

He also listed what he considered signs of a failing nation, citing poor infrastructure, unreliable electricity and rising food prices.

“Nigeria is a country where good roads are treated as a luxury. A country where people with steady electricity are classified as the rich. And a country where the price of food can jump from N10,000 to N100,000 overnight with no questions asked. And you call that a country?” he said.

Charly Boy questioned the role of citizens in addressing the country’s challenges, arguing that the people have a responsibility to demand accountability from those in government.

“Now tell me, can a nation exist without its citizens? No. Then what are the citizens doing? Watching creators make jokes and normalising the breakdown. And watching corrupt leaders campaign only to turn out and cheer them on. What a shame,” he said.

The activist described Nigeria as a country with significant human and natural resources but argued that the nation remains constrained by poor leadership and citizens who, in his view, have failed to speak out against the problems confronting the country.
