A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Shittu Ibraheem Aremu, has urged Muslims to support Muslim candidates contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aremu, who represents Saki West State Constituency, made the call in a video shared by Sure TV.
The lawmaker urged Muslims to support all Muslim candidates of the APC, regardless of the positions they are contesting.
He also cautioned Muslims against supporting political parties fielding Christian candidates for governorship positions.
According to him, electing such candidates could have implications for the interests of Muslims and Islam.
Aremu said Muslims should consider the religious identity of candidates when deciding whom to support during elections.
He called on Muslim voters to remain united and back APC candidates who share their faith.
The lawmaker’s comments come ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and aspirants already mobilising support across the country.
