UNGA 81: Defence Minister Reaffirms Nigeria’s Commitment To Global Peacekeeping

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to global peacekeeping efforts.
He made the commitment during the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York, alongside Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON who led the Nigerian delegation to the global conference.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Minister Leah Katung-Babatunde said the Minister following the opening assembly paid an operational visit to the Defence Section at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations.

General Musa during the visit received a comprehensive briefing on the Section’s strategic activities and operational commitments from the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General EA Koleosho.

The Minister in his remarks commended Brigadier General Koleosho and his team for their exemplary professionalism, steadfast loyalty, and commitment to upholding the highest ideals of both the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He further reiterated the resolve of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to restore and expand Nigeria’s active footprint in international peace and security efforts. He emphasised that the Administration remains deeply committed to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations across the globe to promote stability and security.
