Uzodimma Approves Recruitment Of 6,030 Teachers In Imo

Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate recruitment of 6,030 teachers to strengthen teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools across the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed this, the j mm saying the recruitment was part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the education sector.

Emelumba said the newly – recruited teachers had completed a six-week intensive training programme at the state-owned Ben Uwajimogu College of Education, Ihitte Uboma.

According to him, the recruitment was carried out to fill existing vacancies and eliminate gaps in teaching and learning across the 27 local government areas of Imo State.

“This is the first time in a long time that this large number of teachers is being injected into the school system at once.

“To underscore the importance that the governor places on the exercise, he will personally address the new teachers at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri,” the commissioner said.

Emelumba added that the meeting, scheduled for today at 10am, would provide an opportunity for the newly recruited teachers to meet with the governor.

He, however, clarified that attendance at the meeting would be restricted to teachers who participated in the six-week training programme at Ihitte Uboma.
