‘Useless Organisation’- Argentina President Milei Attacks UN

Argentine President Javier Milei has attacked the United Nations, describing it as a “useless organization” run by “arrogant parasites.”

Milei made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing the UN, where he accused the global body of failing to fulfill its responsibility to promote collective security and protect human rights.

The Argentine leader, a close ally of United States President Donald Trump, said the UN had instead allowed “chaos, violence and international terrorism” to thrive.

According to him, the organisation had “become a useless organization, serving only to feed a caste of fatally arrogant parasites disguised as well-intentioned bureaucrats.”

Milei also criticised the UN over its handling of Argentina’s claim to the Falkland Islands, known as Las Malvinas in Argentina and administered by Britain.

Argentina and Britain fought a war over the islands in 1982.

Milei accused Britain of ignoring a UN resolution calling on both sides to refrain from unilateral action over the disputed territory.

“Those who follow the rules receive no reward for doing so, while those who break them face no repercussions whatsoever,” he said.

The Argentine president has repeatedly used the UN platform to criticise what he describes as global governance and its “woke” agenda.

Meanwhile, Argentina and the United States announced a joint initiative on Wednesday aimed at improving Argentina’s infrastructure and linking it with “vital economic sectors to major Atlantic ports and Western markets.”

The initiative, known as the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, is expected to support investment in transport, digital infrastructure, minerals and energy.

It will also focus on Vaca Muerta, a major hydrocarbon deposit in southern Argentina, according to a joint statement issued by the two countries.
