Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday refused to grant bail to Social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, and his two alleged accomplices, charged with the alleged trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine to the United Kingdom.

Justice Kakaki held, in his ruling on the bail application, that the gravity of the alleged offences, the severity of the punishment prescribed by law and the risk of the defendants absconding weighed against granting them bail.

The judge also noted the prevalence of hard-drug trafficking, stressing that the case involved a large quantity of narcotics allegedly destined for an international market.

The court further ordered an accelerated hearing of the case.

He adjourned the matter until November 2 for trial, and ordered the defendants to remain in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the determination of the charges.

KC Luxury and his co-defendants, Boniface Sule and Ikechukwu Patriarch, were arraigned before the court on a 22-count amended charge of conspiracy, illegal possession, procurement, cocaine exportation, and money laundering by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

After the pleas were entered, their lawyers, including Abdulakeem Labi-Lawal (SAN), urged the court to grant them bail, arguing that the offences are bailable.

But the NDLEA prosecutor, Abu Ibrahim, opposed the applications and urged the court to keep the defendants in custody.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired between July 28 and August 1, 2026, with Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, who were allegedly arrested in London, to export 184.5kg of cocaine concealed in five consignments through a Lagos-based courier company.

According to the charge, marked FHC/LAG/CR/755/2026, the consignments were allegedly shipped under the name “Yemi Ejide” and bore fiveAir Waybilll numbers.

The NDLEA further alleged that Sule procured Ekugo to facilitate the shipment, while Afolabi allegedly procured a staff member of BOT Express Logistics to process the consignments and unlawfully possessed the cocaine pending its export.

Afolabi was also accused of facilitating a payment of N13.2 million from a Mallamawa Ventures account with Zenith Bank to BOT Express Logistics for the shipment.

Sixteen other counts relate to alleged money laundering. The NDLEA accused Afolabi of moving several billions of naira through various companies and personal accounts, including Mallamawa Ventures, Fateey Man Multi-Purpose Nigeria Ltd, Patonifa Ltd, Ade-Lak Resources, Holmestas Global Services Limited and La Capital Enterprises.

The agency alleged that some of the funds were used to acquire vehicles and landed properties to conceal their alleged illicit origin. Afolabi was also accused of failing to declare his assets to the agency as required by law.

Afolabi was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while preparing to travel to Paris. The arrest followed the interception of the alleged 184.5kg cocaine consignment, which the agency valued at about ₦39 billion.

The NDLEA subsequently alleged that searches of Afolabi and his Banana Island residence led to the recovery of exotic vehicles, foreign currency and jewellery allegedly linked to proceeds of the illegal trade.
