The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected car thieves and a suspected cable vandal in separate operations across the state.
The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama Iion, disclosed this on Friday in Kano, saying the two suspected car thieves were intercepted during a routine patrol at Ladanai Junction along the Eastern Bypass.
The suspects were identified as 61-year-old Abdullahi Sani, a resident of Kurna Tudun Bojuwa, and 63-year-old Abdullahi Suleiman of Kantudu in Dala Local Government Area.
According to the Commandant, the suspects were intercepted while allegedly driving a red Toyota Carina II Wagon, with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nassarawa), out of the Ladanai area at about 2am.
He said the vehicle had reportedly been stolen three days before the interception.
“A suspected stolen Toyota Carina II Wagon, red in colour, with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nassarawa) was recovered in connection with the incident,” Agalama said.
In a separate incident, the NSCDC also arrested a 45-year-old man, identified as Suleiman Shehu, over the alleged vandalism of an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited in Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area.
The Commandant said the suspect was a staff member of the company and was apprehended by NSCDC operatives after allegedly vandalising the cable.
Agalama said all three suspects remained in NSCDC custody and were undergoing preliminary investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences and determine their possible involvement.
He added that the suspects would be prosecuted upon completion of the investigations.
The Commandant commended the operatives involved in the arrests, describing their intervention as evidence of the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-led operations in tackling criminal activities.
He assured residents that the Command would continue to strengthen its operations in collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report credible information about suspicious activities to security agencies.
