The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has said the party will campaign on the performance and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration while seeking the support of voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yari made the statement during a courtesy visit by the APC Presidential Campaign Council to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as part of the council’s political engagements in Oyo State. He said ordinarily, if not for the requirement for elections, President Tinubu need not contest in view of the level of his performance and transformational leadership.

The delegation was received by the Olubadan and members of the palace during the visit, which provided an opportunity for the campaign council to engage with the traditional institution.

During the engagement, Yari further expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, citing the President’s experience and capacity to lead the country. He maintained that the APC was confident in its candidate but emphasised that the party would not take the electorate for granted, even though it controls the federal government.

According to him, the campaign council would follow the democratic process by taking its message directly to the people of Oyo State, highlighting the administration’s achievements and presenting its plans for the future.

Yari stressed that the APC would continue to canvass for voters’ support rather than rely solely on incumbency or the party’s existing political strength.

He also acknowledged the role of Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, in facilitating the visit and ensuring the delegation’s engagement at the Olubadan’s palace was successful.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, HIM Senator Rashid Ladoja, Arusa 1 , assured the delegation that Oyo State will reward President Tinubu with massive votes at the polls in 2027. The Monarch was delighted with the quality of the delegation, which consisted of six former governors and current senators.

Other members of the delegation included former Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Borno State Governor and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff; Senator Gbenga Daniel; former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Wase.

Also on the delegation were former APC Deputy National Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu, OFR; Senator Yunus Akintunde, Chairman of the Senate Committee on South West Development; Hon. AbdulMalik Zannah, member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, Zamfara State; Hon. Gololo, a former public office holder; former Zamfara State APC Chairman, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, PhD; Engr. Magaji Dau, mni, PhD; and Hon. Sunday Akin Dare, CON, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communications.
