Nasarawa United have set their sights on securing a continental ticket in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season, with a top-three finish identified as the club’s main target for the 2026/27 campaign.
The Solid Miners narrowly missed out on continental qualification last season, finishing sixth, four points behind third-placed Shooting Stars. That disappointment has strengthened the Lafia-based club’s resolve to push harder this term.
Under coach Mbwas Mangut, Nasarawa United have recorded three wins, two draws and three losses in their first eight matches of the current campaign.
Club media director Eche Amos said the team’s recent performances show it is moving in the right direction. “Things are changing for the better,” Amos was quoted by Completesports.
“I wish to let you know that Nasarawa United, out of eight games, we lost all our games away, we drew only one, but at home, we could draw a couple of games, we won some, but it does not mean we cannot win away from home.”
Amos added that the Solid Miners have the quality to compete, noting that even in away defeats, the team often performed better in possession and showed strong character.
He said Nasarawa United must make the most of their home advantage, pick up draws where needed and keep fighting for wins away from home.
Nasarawa United will face Inter Lagos in Lagos this weekend in their next league fixture.
