The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended the train services along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor.
The suspension of the services followed a derailment of the train at Kubwa area of Abuja on Friday.
An official of the NRC, who wouldn’t want to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, confirmed the suspension, saying, “It is true that the train derailed today (Friday) but the good news is that it didn’t happen in the bush like the one of Warri-Itakpe.
“Currently train cannot pass because of the derailment. So, train service has been suspended for now but if our men can work overnight, then we might resume service tomorrow.”
It would be recalled that the train service along the corridor resumed operation on December 5, 2022 after it was suspended for over eight months due to terrorist attack on a Kaduna-bound Train on Monday, March 28, 2022.
LEADERSHIP reports that train operations resumed in December after all passengers kidnapped regained freedom.
