Investors Confident Of Energy Sector Viability Despite Recent Global Disruptions—Report

Investors interet is growing indicating strong evidence that the energy sector is more attractive to them than it was five years ago, reflecting growing confidence in the sector despite recent global disruptions. 

This is according to the new ADIPEC report which finds that 85 per cent of surveyed energy industry leaders indicate growing investor appetite in the sector.

The ADIPEC Global Energy Report 2026: Power Shift draws on responses from more than 1,800 senior decision-makers across energy, technology, finance and manufacturing, including 304 oil and gas leaders. Overall, 64 per cent of respondents said the global energy system had proved more resilient than expected through recent disruptions, while 77 per cent expressed optimism about the sector’s outlook over the next decade.

The Middle East is expected to play a growing role in the global energy system. Some 72 per cent of respondents said the region would become more important to global energy over the next decade, while 74 per cent anticipated an expanded role in energy infrastructure. 

The findings point to the region’s continued relevance as companies and governments respond to shifting demand, investment priorities and energy security concerns.

Artificial intelligence is another major factor shaping expectations for the sector. More than 80 per cent of respondents expect AI-driven electricity demand to exceed current forecasts, and 71 per cent view AI as more of an opportunity than a risk. Meanwhile, 43 per cent expect technology and AI companies to gain the most influence over the energy sector, underscoring the growing intersection between digital infrastructure and power supply.

The report also highlights expectations for a diverse energy mix. A total of 93 per cent of respondents said meeting future energy demand would require growth across multiple energy sources. 

The findings point to continued investment needs across energy production, power generation and grid infrastructure as demand grows and technology reshapes consumption patterns.

The report is based on a survey of senior decision-makers across 10 markets, supplemented by interviews. Its findings reflect respondents’ views on the direction of the energy sector rather than a measure of actual investment growth
