The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated commitment to addressing the country’s security and socio-economic challenges, pledging to make national security, poverty alleviation, education and job creation the core pillars of its administration.
Speaking yesterday at the Middle Belt Confidence-Building Town Hall meeting held in Jos, Plateau State, the NDC vice-presidential candidate, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who represented the presidential candidate of the party, Peter
Obi, said the joint ticket symbolises national bridge-building, designed to unite Nigerians across religious, ethnic and regional lines.
He expressed deep concern with the persistent loss of lives to banditry, Boko Haram and communal violence, stressing that protecting citizens remained an indispensable constitutional duty.
He noted that every Nigerian life must be safeguarded without bias and insisted that public officers must be held accountable for failing to guarantee safety.
Outlining the party’s economic plan, the former Kano State governor bemoaned the widespread collapse of industrial hubs that once supported millions of jobs.
He asserted that an NDC-led administration would revitalise local manufacturing, boost agriculture, upgrade healthcare systems and foster an environment where businesses can thrive to absorb unemployed youths.
Pointing to his achievements in expanding primary and secondary education in Kano State, Kwankwaso identified accessible education as the primary tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and curbing crime nationwide.
He rallied residents of Plateau to take an active role in the democratic process, urging voters to turn out in large numbers on election day and tasking them to remain law-abiding, and actively safeguard their votes to ensure a transparent electoral outcome.
