The Nigerian Army says it established the 24 Battalion in Tudun Wada and 311 Artillery Regiment in Dambatta local government areas of Kano State to strengthen its operational presence, expand security coverage and enhance its capacity to respond to emerging security threats.
The assistant director, army public relations, 3 Brigade, Kano, Babatunde Zubairu, disclosed this while explaining the rationale behind the establishment of the two military formations.
Zubairu said the new formations underscored the Army’s commitment to improving security operations and ensuring a more effective response to security challenges across Kano State.
He explained that their establishment was part of efforts to strengthen the military’s operational capacity and improve its ability to address emerging threats through increased presence in strategic locations.
The development came amid renewed efforts by the Nigerian Army to reinforce security operations in the state, with the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, recently conducting an operational assessment visit to the two formations.
During the October 28 and 29 visit, Wase said the newly established units required dedication, resilience and adequate support to achieve the objectives behind their establishment.
He also reassured the troops that the division was working closely with the Kano State government to accelerate the formations’ attainment of full operational capability.
The GOC, who was accompanied by the Commander, 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, emphasised the importance of personnel welfare and adequate logistics in strengthening the operational effectiveness of the units.
Wase also urged residents of the host communities, particularly in Tudun Wada and Dambatta, to cooperate with the military and provide the necessary support to enable the formations to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
The Army said the collaboration between security agencies, government and host communities remained crucial to achieving improved security across the state.
