The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 301 suspects for various criminal offences across the state between August and October 2026, securing 27 convictions within the period.
The corps also paraded 15 suspects allegedly involved in kidnapping, violation of anti-grazing laws, burglary, stealing and looting of public schools.
The suspects were paraded on Tuesday during a security briefing in Akure, where the corps presented its operational scorecard for the three-month period and announced the launch of Operation ‘Laafia DanDan'(compulsory peace) to strengthen security across the state.
Among those paraded were four suspects linked to kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of a poultry farmer and the killing of a woman in the state.
The corps said three of the suspects were directly involved in the kidnapping incident in Ondo about two months ago, adding that the victim had identified them and that they had confessed to the crime.
The suspects were identified as Ali, 30, Yusuf, 30, Sadiq, 27, and Moshud, 22. Another suspect, Mohammed, 22, was arrested in connection with a separate kidnapping incident.
The corps also paraded Usman and Suleiman for allegedly violating the state’s anti-grazing laws, while other suspects were arrested for burglary and stealing, including the theft of television sets and mobile phones. It said the stolen items had been recovered.
Four other suspects, identified as Dada, 26, Seyi, 24, Hassan, 22, and Sunday, 19, were arrested for allegedly looting public schools in Ile-Oluji. They were reportedly caught removing roofing materials from the schools after stealing computers.
Giving details of the operational achievements, the corps said 27 suspects had been convicted and were either serving various jail terms or fulfilling conditions attached to options of fines, while 102 cases were resolved through alternative dispute resolution.
Explaining the circumstances surrounding the arrests, the corps said, “We have on parade here 15 suspects. In the 15 suspects, we have four on anti-grazing, two on breach of law and order, and nine on kidnap-related cases.
”The victim had identified them, and the suspects had also confessed to the crime. This goes a long way in showing that Ondo State is not a place where criminalities could thrive.”
The corps attributed its operational achievements to intelligence gathering and collaboration with Amotekun ambassadors across the 18 local government areas, local vigilantes, plain-clothes operatives and other security stakeholders.
It also announced the commencement of Operation Laafia DanDan and a special ember months security operation, which will involve the deployment of about 1,200 personnel across the 18 local government areas, particularly for border patrols.
The operation, according to the corps, will include intelligence-led surveillance on major roads, enhanced patrols of forest reserves by Amotekun Rangers and monitoring of identified black spots across the state.
It said the new security measures would be supported by training and retraining of personnel, particularly investigating officers, drivers and mechanics, as well as officers responsible for criminal records management and prosecution.
The corps assured residents that it would sustain round-the-clock patrols across major roads, forest reserves and urban centres, while urging members of the public to provide timely and actionable information to security agencies. It added that suspects whose investigations had been concluded would be charged to the appropriate courts.
