Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board plans to conduct screening for intending pilgrims in their respective local government areas (LGAs).

This is part of measures it has adopted to improve preparations for the forthcoming hajj pilgrimage.

Its director-general, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this during a briefing to journalists at his office.

He explained that the decision was aimed at making the screening process more accessible and convenient for the intending pilgrims across the state.

Matawalle said the initiative was part of the board’s efforts to strengthen its administrative arrangements, ensure proper documentation, and educate prospective pilgrims on the necessary guidelines and requirements for a successful Hajj exercise.

Matawalle also disclosed that the board was arranging to accommodate Kano pilgrims in locations close to the Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia to make it easier for them to observe their daily prayers and fulfil other religious obligations.

The Director-General also cautioned pilgrims against any behaviour capable of tarnishing the image of Kano State and Nigeria, urging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of their communities and the country.

Matawalle expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his commitment and support in ensuring timely administrative arrangements for the successful conduct of this year’s pilgrimage.

He equally acknowledged the contributions of media organisations and practitioners for their continued support and adequate coverage of the Board’s activities before, during, and after Hajj operations.

The Director-General reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to providing effective services, improving pilgrims’ welfare, and ensuring a smooth, successful, and hitch-free pilgrimage for all intending pilgrims from Kano State.
