President, Global Legislators, and patron of the Strategic Mobilisation Network for Tinubu Continuity 2027, Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo, says the network aims to build and drive grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Onuigbo stated this during an interactive session with members and stakeholders of the network, who cuts across political parties and various groups in the state, in Umuahia, the capital.
His words, “We must take ownership of this responsibility. We have different backgrounds, experiences, relationships and areas of influence. These are assets we must bring together for a common purpose.”
“Some of us have relationships with market associations. Others have access to students, professionals, artisans, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community organisations.”
The one-time member of the House of Representatives for the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency also said they will leverage those relationships to convey the message of continuity to the people.
‎”Our engagement must be practical. When we visit a market, we should be able to speak with traders about the economy, access to credit and government interventions that concern their businesses.”
‎”When we engage students, we should be able to explain NELFUND and other opportunities available to them. When we engage community leaders, we should discuss infrastructure, security, agriculture and the development needs of their communities.”
‎”We must understand that people are more interested in how government policies affect their lives than in political speeches. Our job is to connect the President’s policies and achievements to the everyday experiences of Nigerians.’
‎”nd we must be prepared to listen. If someone tells us that food is expensive, we should not argue with them. If a trader complains about the cost of transportation, we should acknowledge the challenge.”
‎According to the former commissioner in the state under Governor Theodore Orji, they must remind Nigerians that the objective is not merely to continue for its own sake.
‎”It is to continue where there is progress, improve where there are weaknesses and complete what has been started to enable us to enjoy prosperity in all ramifications. ”
‎”That is why our message is built around four important words: continuity, consolidation, completion, and prosperity,” the former two-term National Assembly member added.
‎In his remarks, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees in the state, Chief Tony Ezebuiro, assured party members of his support for the president’s reelection.
‎Ezebuiro, who served as commissioner for Public Utilities in the state under the immediate past Okezie Ikpeazu administration, said the decision was based on the president’s performance in office.
‎He further explained that the decision had the support of the chairman of the board, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, and the former governor, Ambassador Okezie Ikpeazu.
