The slogan, “Tinubu Must Go”, echoed across Illorin Road in Sokoto metropolis on Wednesday as supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gathered for the party’s presidential campaign flag-off ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The chant, which resonated among the crowd, reflected growing opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with supporters expressing solidarity with the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Many of the supporters reportedly travelled from different parts of Sokoto State to participate in the rally.

The gathering also provided a platform for opposition supporters to express dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration over economic hardship, rising cost of living and persistent security challenges across the country.

The rally formed part of the ADC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots support and mobilise Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections. However, as of the time of filing this report, the ADC presidential campaign train was yet to arrive at the venue from the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, reportedly due to the large crowd gathered along the route.
