A Kano State Sharia Court has remanded two vigilante operatives at a correctional centre over the alleged murder of a young man, Umar Muhammad Bachirawa.
The defendants, Mas’udu Abdullahi Bachirawa and Kabiru Adamu Bachirawa, were arraigned by the police before the court presided over by Garba Hamza Malafa.
They were accused of killing Umar following a disagreement with him over a dog.
At the hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Awaisu Sani Lawan, urged the court to read the charges to the defendants.
The charges were subsequently read to them, but they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution counsel later asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to obtain legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General of the state.
Consequently, the court adjourned the case until December 16, 2026, for further proceedings.
