Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos in the cyberstalking, defamation and extortion case involving Pastor Chris Okafor, General Overseer of Grace Nation Global.

Justice Akintayo Aluko granted Ogala bail on Friday, November 6, 2026, for ₦30 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Under the conditions, at least one of the sureties must own registered property in Lagos State, hold a senior position in Ogala’s political party or be a person of recognised standing. Both sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide tax clearance certificates for the past 3 years, as well as 2 passport photographs each.

The court registrar must verify the documents submitted by the sureties before Ogala can be released from custody.

The judge also ordered the actress to surrender her international passport to the registrar and to refrain from publishing electronic content that could intimidate or harass prosecution witnesses.

In granting bail, Justice Aluko said the court had to balance Ogala’s constitutional right to liberty with the need to protect witnesses and preserve the integrity of the trial.

He expressed concern over her conduct during proceedings on October 28, 2026, which he said led to an emergency adjournment of 10 cases. Although the judge acknowledged that Ogala had apologised, he said her active presence on social media raised concerns about the possibility of using online platforms to pressure or intimidate witnesses expected to testify in the case.

Citing Section 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and the Supreme Court’s decision in Suleiman’s case, Justice Aluko held that granting bail was in the interest of justice.

Ogala had filed her bail application on October 27, 2026, relying on Section 35(5) of the Constitution and Sections 158 and 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

Despite the ruling, the actress will remain at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until she meets the bail conditions and the court registrar completes the verification process.

The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State was remanded at the correctional facility on Tuesday, October 27, pending the hearing of her bail application.

Her remand followed a bench warrant issued for her arrest wherever she might be found in connection with the case involving the cleric.

It was earlier reported that Ogala was taken into custody following the court’s order.
