The Middle-Belt Progressive Solidarity Forum has commended the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) movement for its mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group said A4A had adopted a structured approach to political mobilisation in Northern Nigeria through the establishment of a national campaign headquarters, digital engagement platforms and grassroots activities across the region.
In a statement issued by its Convener, Arc. Joshua Pwajok Panam, the forum said the movement’s activities represented a shift from informal political support to a more coordinated campaign structure.
It noted that A4A had organised rallies, appointed youth ambassadors and engaged social media influencers to promote the administration’s activities and mobilise support for Tinubu.
The forum also highlighted the movement’s use of the hashtag #ArewaforAsiwaju, which it said had featured prominently in political discussions across northern digital platforms.
It identified Abdurahman Leme, Waspapping, Yellow and Kawu Garba among the personalities amplifying the campaign online.
According to the statement, A4A has also been highlighting federal government projects in Northern Nigeria to address concerns about regional representation and development.
The forum cited ongoing road projects in Taraba State, including the Bali-Serti-Gashaka-Gembu Road and the Gembu-Mbamnga-Yang corridor, as well as the Tungo-Karamti Road linking Adamawa and Taraba states.
It also mentioned the rehabilitation of the Kashimbila-Takum axis and other federal infrastructure projects across the North-West, North-East and North-Central regions.
On security, the group credited the Tinubu administration and the Office of the National Security Adviser, led by Nuhu Ribadu, with progress in operations against banditry and terrorism.
It listed the reported neutralisation of some notorious bandit commanders, the rescue of abducted persons and the recovery of illegal arms among the security developments it said had been recorded.
However, the forum acknowledged that insecurity remained a challenge in parts of the North, while noting that it believed the scale of large-scale attacks had declined compared with previous years.
The group also admitted that the government’s economic reforms had created short-term difficulties for Nigerians but argued that public discussions should also consider the administration’s infrastructure and institutional interventions.
On the 2027 elections, the forum expressed support for the argument that the country’s political arrangement should allow the South to complete its presidential tenure, following the eight years of a northern presidency.
It urged A4A to sustain its mobilisation through grassroots engagement, transparent communication and cooperation with other regional groups.
The forum said the movement’s activities demonstrated how political support in Northern Nigeria could be organised ahead of the next general elections.
The statement was signed by Panam, the convener of the Middle-Belt Progressive Solidarity Forum, Jos, Plateau State.
