Lead Pastor of Good Tidings Bible Church International, Dayo Olutayo has called on politicians contesting for different positions not to incite youths and young people to violence during and after the general elections, saying that no life is worth losing because of their ambitions.

Olutayo who made this call yesterday at national day prayers organised in Abuja for political parties and their candidates, also advised politicians to take the peace accord that they signed seriously and sacred to ensure a violent free election.

He said that Nigerians should know that whatever position they occupy, either as officials of election or government officials or security officials, or any party agent or party officials, even candidates or even we citizens, anyone running for office is signing a contract with the soul of Nigeria and that contract must be kept.

Olutayo said: “If they break the contract, Nigeria will react. All we have been facing in terms of disturbances is the soul of Nigeria reacting because its purpose is being violated. So, everybody should know that Nigeria knows whom they are signing an accord with, and they have to keep that accord because Nigeria is the pot of their arrival on this earth.

“Number two, I appeal that everybody should use their position within the limit of the powers given to them by the law. There should be no breaking of the law. I am going to also appeal to all our politicians that are active participants in the election that they should not incite our youths to fight.

They should not trade the life of any other person for their ambition.

“Also, nobody should hate somebody because of their political choice. Why should you be angry with me because I chose to wear white when you chose to wear blue? That is a choice. So nobody should destroy somebody’s property or kill because of political choices.

“Let us vote according to our inclinations and beliefs. Whoever convinces you, you should vote for the person. Each party is condemning other participants. Are you also right? Nigerians should vote their conscience and if we do that, then the will of the people will emerge.”

The deputy director of the department of Voters Education in Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Chukwuemeka Ugbuaja, said that there is no doubt about the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission  is ready for the election, and that INEC has done all they are supposed to do to ensure a hitch-free general election.

“We are ready. Logistically we are ready. Security wise we are also ready. The security agencies have promised that they will secure men and property and voters throughout the country. I think we will get there and we will come out better and stronger during this election,” he said.
