The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has fixed February 28, 2023 as the final deadline for the remittance of 50 per cent deposit of 2022 allocation.

The commission in a statement signed by assistant director, Information and Publication, Mousa Ubandawaki said any state pilgrim welfare board, commission and agency who failed to comply with the directive would forfeit its allocation or be reduced.

The statement explained that the remittance to the commission in the past week has been abysmal, saying payment to service providers in Saudi Arabia remains the biggest assurance that Nigeria will participate in 2023 year’s Hajj.

“By our calendar of events, final remittance to the commission should be concluded by February 28 in order to conclude our arrangements on time, as we didn’t want to give room to lapses.

“We implore the SPWB/A/C to cooperate with us and ensure compliance with the directive in order to make the Hajj 2023 successful,” the statement said.

The commission, while reiterating commitments to all intending pilgrims to ensure that everyone who paid his or her fare is registered, urged the states to respect the agreement on the distribution of Hajj quota on the basis of 60 per cent for government pilgrims and 40 per cent for the Hajj Savings Scheme subscribers.
