Less than 48 hours to the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections, gunmen in separate attacks in four local government areas in Benue State have killed seven farmers and injured scores of others.
The executive secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Emmanuel Shior who disclosed this in Makurdi during the flag-off of the distribution of food and non-food materials to the displaced persons named the affected LGs and communities as Agagbe in Gwer-West, Ikobi in Apa, Tyulen in Guma and Logo.
LEADERSHIP Friday gathered from some locals in Guma that one of the victims Tyover Adzuu who was killed during the attacks was a younger brother to Governor Samuel Ortom’s aide, Frank Adzuu.
A message on Frank Adzuu’s Facebook wall reads, “I am announcing the death of my younger brother, Timothy Tyover Adzuu who was attacked and shot dead by the marauding herdsmen at Tyulen Village early hours of Tuesday, 21st February.
“The wake and burial is as follows: Thursday, 23rd February, 2023, wake at St Michael Catholic Church, Agasha while burial is Friday, 24th February, 2023, at Tse-Adzuu Compound, Tyulen Village, Agasha, Guma LGA.”
When contacted the police public relations officer Catherine Anene said she was yet to receive a report of the attacks from the DPOs of the affected LGs.
