Observers’ Coalition Wants INEC To Play By The Rules, Remain Unbiased

Civil Society Observers Coalition (CSOC), Delta State, has called on the Independent National Electrical Commission (INEC) to play by the rules and remain unbiased during today’s presidential election.

Founding coordinator, Delta State Civil Society Community (DSCSC), Deacon Okezi Odugala made the call yesterday in Asaba at a press conference, urging political parties and candidates to conduct themselves with the spirit of sportsmanship and abide by the peace accord already signed.

While employing voters to exercise their civic duties with civility, devoid of violence, as they vote their choice candidates, he advised them against voter apathy.

“For we election observers, we will report our findings without fear or favour. We call on all stakeholders to partner for credible election for peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

“We have a pivotal role to play. INEC has started to distribute electoral materials; observers’ accreditation is ongoing. We commend the security agents; security agent should act professionally. We urge parties to play by the peace accord. We shall bring our findings to the national level.

“We shall also engage ourselves within the ambits of the law, speak the truth and partner for sustainable development. We shall majorly continue doing advocacy for every Nigerian.

“Also, persons with disability will be carried along to vote. Make sure political players stick to their manifestoes, not blackmail. We shall use the manifesto when they are in power to assess the person whether he is a man of truth or not. We shall discourage violence before, during and after the election,” Odugala stated.
