The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mimi Beauty Zone, Emem Homes and Luxury Lifestyle and Merit Stephen Foundation, Ememobong Merit Stephen in a recent interview disclosed how and why she founded her various business concerns.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Akwa Ibom Indigene, has lived in various capital cities Abuja, Cotonou (Benin) and Accra (Ghana), but presently is based in Lagos.
On her fashion model career, Mimii, as she is fondly called said: “I became a fashion model after I graduated from Creative Catwalk Academy in Ikeja, Lagos, after a one-year modelling course. But before then I had done jobs like ushering and collaboration shoots with photographers and make-up artists. I also did some jobs as a video vixen.”
Venturing into real estate in 2020, according to her was borne out of her experience. “In Lagos, I used to have accommodation issues. I know how bad and frustrating it could be. I ventured into real estate so I can help people solve their accommodation problems.”
Her Emem Homes and Luxury Lifestyle is active in the selling of landed properties, luxury houses (including terrace apartments and duplex houses), short-let apartments, boat cruises and luxury car rentals.
“I work as a freelance realtor with some of the top real estate developers and companies in Lagos including Landwey/Alvin Grey and Associates, BRG, Rems and Zylus,” she affirmed.
Similarly, her Merit Stephen Foundation was inspired by her experience.
“As a child growing up, we had little or nothing. We didn’t have a proper school bag. We could hardly afford a test book for upcoming tests or exams,” she recalled, saying “the experience ignited in me the urge to give back to society, to put smiles on people’s faces and help them move closer to their dream or career.”
