This was revealed by the special adviser to the president on Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), and secretary to PEBEC, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole in Abuja on Thursday.

Members of the PEBEC include the minister’s of Transportation, Aviation, Communication among others.

Recall that the Executive Order 001 (EO1) was issued on May 18, 2017, codified in 2022 and it gives full executive support for reforms intended to foster a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Nigeria.

According to her, “the codification of EO1 directives in the Business Facilitation Act 2022 is a major development in the efforts to entrench EO1 in the psyche of the civil service. It is expected that the legal provisions will serve as a stimulus for a more transparent and efficient public service delivery in Nigeria.”

While speaking on the penalties for non compliance of the Executive Order, especially after it was codified in 2022 and become binding and enforceable, Dr Oduwole said there are penalties for public office holders but there is need for the private sectors to report cases of corruption or abuse of the ACT.

She called private sectors and the public to explore the Business Facilitation Act 2022 inorder to ensure the reduction in some of the bottleneck involved in doing business in Nigeria.
