The Nigerian Army has commissioned a modern 60-bed hospital ward at the General Hospital, Kishi in Irepo local government area of Oyo State.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-Gen Faruk Yahaya commissioned the facility and said it was constructed and equipped by the Nigerian Army.

It has female and male wards, children ward, labour room, doctors’ offices, nurse station as well as a reception.

In a statement by the director of Army Public Relations Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the COAS described the hospital as one of his special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation projects aimed at winning the hearts and minds of Nigerians by complementing existing infrastructure.

He reiterated that the Nigerian Army belongs to Nigerians and as such must ensure that the country is safe and secured.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his support and reaffirmed the unalloyed loyalty of the officers and soldiers to the federal government.

The governor of Oyo State, Engr Sheyi Makinde, who was represented by Hon. Lateef Adediran, extolled the Army for being instrumental to national unity and global peace through its internal security operations and contribution of troops to Peace Support missions.
