Benue State has intensified efforts to attract global investment and forge strategic international partnerships following its participation in the 9th World Investment Forum (WIF 2026) held in Doha, Qatar.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on International and Global Partnerships, Zaki Asen, participated in the forum, organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and hosted by Qatar from October 25 to 27.
The forum brought together world leaders, investors, policymakers and international development partners to explore investment opportunities and strategies for sustainable development.
Prominent participants included Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani; Prime Minister of Lesotho, Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane; Prime Minister of Libya, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah; Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; and Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development, Rebeca Grynspan.
Held under the theme:“Investing in the Future,” the forum focused on opportunities for investment and international collaboration in critical sectors, including agriculture, education, skills development, healthcare and innovation.
For Benue State, these sectors represent significant opportunities to attract investment, create jobs, develop human capital and accelerate economic growth through strategic international partnerships.
Asen said participation in global engagements such as the forum provided an opportunity to build relationships that could translate into tangible development outcomes for the people of Benue State.
“My focus remains on connecting Benue to the right partners, ideas and opportunities in support of the development vision of His Excellency, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Governor of Benue State,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Benue’s international relationships and identifying opportunities that would support the governor’s development agenda.
“Benue is rising. On this mandate, I stand,” Asen added.
