House of Representatives member-elect for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Amobi Ogah, has placed a 37-year-old paralytic, Oscar Okoli, on a N100,000.00 monthly stipend.

Ogah announced this when he visited Okoli in his family house after attending a thanksgiving church service organised for him at Obiagu Lekwesi in Umunneochi local government of Abia State.

The Labour Party member, who noted that despite his condition, the former student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba has kept hope alive stressed that people ought to be their brother’s keeper.

He used the forum to thank the people of the community in particular and the constituency in general for their support for the party during the last general election, saying the results have marked a watershed in the state.

In his response, Okoli said he lacked words to express his gratitude to Ogah, recalling how the member-elect had extended his kindness to him earlier during the campaign period.

Appreciating Ogah, who was accompanied by a large crowd of members of the party and the supporters, Okoli’s mother, Ezinne Louisa Okoli said she was touched by Ogah’s gesture.

The widow, prayed for Ogah’s wellbeing and bright political future, adding that the member-elect had begun on good footing by honouring the invitation to the service.

The former second year student sustained a spinal cord injury in a road accident between Umuahia and Aba on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in 2012 and has since been bedridden.
