The NYSC director-general, brigadier general Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed stated this at the opening ceremony of the 2023 NYSC annual management conference, held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking on the theme, “Optimizing the Operations of NYSC @ 50 for National Development,” he said despite its laudable achievements, the scheme is still faced with some operational challenges.

He commended the contributions of all stakeholders to the achievements of the Scheme so far, saying that it is poised to use the conference to consolidate and build on them by evolving new ideas for greater impact.

“This informed the choice of the theme: “Optimizing the Operations of NYSC @ 50 for National Development. Permit me to state that despite its laudable achievements, the Scheme is still faced with some operational challenges.

“They arise mainly from the failure of some critical stakeholders to discharge their statutory responsibilities and the inability to empower a large number of Corps members with start- up capital for self-reliance after going through entrepreneurial training.
