President Muhammadu Buhari at the weekend in Abuja inaugurated the governing board of the Nigerian Police Academy, taskingĀ members of the board on a reformed and professional Nigeria Police Force.
Inaugurating the board, minister of police affairs, Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, who represented the president,Ā said the official inauguration of the governing board of the Academy reaffirmed President Muhammadu Buhariās sincere commitment to bequeath a reformed, professionalised, highly motivated and knowledge based police force with a view to institutionalising proactive policing in Nigeria, among others.
He said he had no doubt that the board appointment was based on
merit and their commendable track records and was convinced that they would bring to bear their wealth
of experience and ingenuity in the realisation of your statutory responsibility of re-engineering a world standard policing system in Nigeria.
Some of the members of the board, include the minister of police affairs,Ā chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Solomon Arase; the inspector-general of Police, IGP Usman Baba among others.
The minister also said: āThe approval of the governing board of the Nigeria Police Academy by His Excellency, President Muhammadu
Buhari seeks to fully operationalize the provisions of the Police Academy (Establishment) Act 2021 earlier signed
into law by Mr. President on 7th April, 2022.ā
The Police Academy Governing Board known as the Nigeria Police Academy Council, has the statutory responsibility of: āExercising control and supervise the policy, finances and property of the Academy.
