Edo National Voice (EVN) has described the sack of the Duke of Evbuobonosa, Professor Greg Akenzua by the Oba of Benin as the right thing to do.

The group warned enemies of the Benin Kingdom to submit to the authority of the respected monarch, culture and traditions of the Kingdom or be ready to face the wrath of the ancestors.

In a jointly signed statement, Iyamu Osaro Culture, president and Osaghae Collins Amadin, secretary-general in reaction to the sack of Prof Akenzua which was announced last Sunday said, “The sacking of Enogie of Evbuobonosa Dukedom, Professor Greg Akenzua who is the gang leader of some defiant Enigies is in order and long overdue.

“It is no longer news that some defiant Enigies are playing the script written by Edo State Governor Godwin Ọbaseki to undermine our revered Throne and Benin Kingdom over his inability to take custody and ownership of our repatriating artefacts which rightfully and historically belongs to our revered Throne.

“It is regrettably regrettable to state that recent happenings within the circle of some defiant Enigies led by the sacked Enogie of Evbuobonosa Dukedom, Professor Greg Akenzua who is their gang leader has clearly shown their traits of betrayal, selfishness, ungratefulness and sacrilegious against our well-structured Benin Kingdom where they recommended to Governor Obaseki to grant them their own local government traditional council as against the culture, heritage, custom and tradition of Benin Kingdom.

“It could be recall that we have humbly called on our revered Oba Ewaure II, Oba of Benin Kingdom umpteenth times to place these miniature enemies of Benin Kingdom to where they rightfully belong to. Thus, the twin action carried out recently by our revered Oba Ewaure II wherein he sacked the Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen Siluko Dukedom, Mr. Iduozee Edomwonyi and his gang leader, Enogie of Evbuobonosa Dukedom, Professor Greg Akenzua is symmetry and have the full support of all great sons and daughters of Benin Kingdom and our ancestors.

“We want to use this medium again to warn the enemies of our great Benin Kingdom to submit to the doctrine of our rich culture, heritage, custom and tradition to avoid the wrath of the people and our ancestors as evidently seen in recent time,” the statement added.
