Delta Sets To Host Nigeria’s First Teqball Championship

Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ) has approved the first National Championship tagged Delta Teqball Tour 2023.

NIGTEQ’s head, Competitions/Communications, Promise Uwaeme, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that teams would battle for a $3,000 prize at the magnificent Indoor Sports Hall of Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, from Wednesday to Saturday, May 10 – 13, 2023.

The championship will be used as a ranking event as five categories namely; Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles will be contested. Over 68 Athletes from 16 clubs will be participating in the four-day event.

Teqball is a football-based sport played on a specially curved table (the Teq Table) and is one of the newest emerging sports growing rapidly through each continent.

Teqball was invented in 2012 in Hungary
and debuted in Nigeria at a national sports festival tagged Delta 2022, held in Asaba, the State.
