The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has begun the non-oil export certification for 50 Micro Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country under its Go Global, Go Certification” project.

The Commission said the project is geared towards obtaining appropriate international certifications for products of Nigerian origin.

Chief executive officer, NEPC, Dr Ezra Yakusak, dropped this hint at the 2023 Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) conference yesterday in Abuja.

Dr. Yakusak , who disclosed that the Commission is targeting an additional 150 SMEs by the end of the year, explained that the certification would reduce the cases of rejects and give SMEs access to certified niche international markets where they would be able to compete on level grounds and get premium pricing for their products.

While noting that the project is a fully- sponsored scheme with the NEPC bearing 100 per cent of the financial burden, Dr Yakusak said the scheme will further increase the competitiveness of Nigerian products in foreign markets.
