Delta State Governor-elect and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, (DSHA), Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, says an efficient and effective workforce has been and would remain a top priority in any position he finds himself.

He stated this while declaring open a 3-day capacity building programme for staff of the Assembly on Grade Level 3 to 10, taking place in Asaba, the state capital.

The governor-elect and Speaker stated that training and retraining of staff was a policy thrust of the assembly geared towards building a virile, effective and efficient workforce in the State Legislature.

Oborevwori, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Christopher Ochor, stated that “Since 2019, we have been faithful to this commitment and God willing, we will sustain it till our last day in office”.

Saying that training and retraining staff is a catalyst for quality service delivery in any organization, Oborevwori stated that the three-day programme was another opportunity for participants to develop their skills and learn the right attitude in the discharge of their duties.

“As we all know, competence and positive attitude in an organization are sine qua non to efficient and effective service delivery. Accordingly, as you commence this capacity-building programme, I enjoin you all to give it the attention it deserves to justify the huge investment in this workshop because, to whom much is given, much is also expected.

In her opening remarks, the Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs Lyna Ocholor, said the state legislature never had it so good, emphasizing that the leadership of the Seventh Assembly has been consistent in capacity building of the workforce.

Ocholor explained that the theme of the programme, “Standing Out, Making The Right Impact and Securing Our Future”, is apt and would go a long way in enhancing the quality of service delivery in the State Assembly.
