Insurance companies across the West African sub-region are set to reposition for global competitiveness.
At the forthcoming West African Insurance Association (WAICA) Education Conference, expected to take place from 7 – 9 May 2023 in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, experts are expected to address the issue of rating at this time because insurance industry, as a critical player in the economy, should be able to compete globally as rating agencies help to access the strength and global competitiveness of insurance companies.
Speaking on the forthcoming conference, the chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the forthcoming WAICA Education Conference, Mrs. Bola Odukale, while addressing members of the committee during the inaugural meeting, noted that, “if we are promoting the concept of a global village, the insurance industry in the West African sub region needs to be seen as front runners in promoting global competitiveness.”
She said, the 2023 WAICA Educational Conference has ‘Repositioning the Insurance Industry in West Africa for Global Competitiveness’ as it theme, promising that, the conference is going to be an exciting one.
The three-day educational conference will feature papers by A.M Best, a globally acclaimed rating agency and other international scholars of repute.
According to the programme of events released by the secretary general of WAICA, Mr. William Coker, the occasion will also mark the 50th anniversary of the subregional body.
