His Only Son Brings Home The Pain of Abraham’s Sacrifice

His Only Son, brings home the pain the pain that the father of faith, Abraham faced upon God’s command to offer Isaac as a living sacrifice to him.

Released March 31, 2023 by Angel Studios the makers of The Chosen (a series on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ), the story begins with Abraham receiving God’s command in the still of the night to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to Him. The film centers around the journey to the land of Moriah and to the mountain on which the sacrifice is to take place, with flashbacks of God’s call to Abraham, his long walk of faith in waiting on God for his promised covenant heir, and the intense sorrow yet obedience expressed by Abraham and Sarah in the face of a parents’ greatest nightmare.

The film released just ten days before the Easter Sunday, draws a parallel between Abraham’s offering or his only son, to God’s sacrifice of his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, for the salvation of the world. It is apparently a huge success at the cinemas, and is showing that contrary to recent opinions, Christian movies can deliver its message with artistry.

Netizens were happy to see more Christian, moral and family-oriented movies produced.

“So glad more Christian/spiritual movies are being produced. Thank you!” said Lori B.

“As a father of an only child myself, a son, I truly can relate. I too would cry out ‘take me’. It costs more, causes the deepest pain than to offer our own lives. I can feel what Abraham must have felt, and ultimately, our own father,” Ivan Godin.

“Can’t wait to watch this, thank you for bringing more of the Bible stories to everyone its exactly what the world needs right now and always,” Terry Johnson.
