The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, as winner of Zamfara Central Senatorial election after Saturday’s Supplementary election.

Bilbis polled 102,866 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 91,216 votes in the election.

Professor Kabiru Abdullahi of the Federal University, Gusau, while announcing the results, said Ikra Aliyu Bilbis having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast and satisfied the requirement of the law was returned elected.

Bilbis, a former Minister of State for Information and Communication had joined the PDP last year from APC and clinched the party’s ticket.
