Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has appointed the House Leader, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, the co-chairman of the Joint Senate/House Committee to investigate alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum industry.
A statement by the House spokesman, Hon. Akin Rotimi said other members are: Hons. Iduma Ighariwey, Gboyega N. Isiaka, Sada Soli, Fatima Talba, Tunji Raheem and Patrick Umoh.
Rotimi said the urgency and importance of the matter necessitated close collaboration between the Senate and the House of Representatives.
“This new structure aims to ensure synergy, a holistic approach to addressing the issues, and ease of administrative coordination, resulting in a harmonised and efficient investigation.
“The committee is expected to commence its duties immediately, with a clear mandate to ensure accountability and transparency in the sector, he added.
LEADERSHIP reports that the House leadership resolved to dissolve the current the Joint Downstream and Midstream Committee mandated to conduct forensic investigation into the oil and gas sectors.
According to the House, the joint
committee chaired by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere and Henry Hon. Okogie will be succeeded by a newly constituted ad-hoc committee with the same mandate.
