Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Abbas Tajudeen, has mourned the death of former Director-General and Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr Adamu Mohammed Fika, describing him as an accomplished technocrat whose contributions left a lasting impact on Nigeria’s legislature.

Fika died at a hospital in Abuja on Thursday after a distinguished career in the public service.

Until his death, he was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Retired Clerks and Secretaries of the National Assembly.

He also served as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) and previously held the office of Director-General and Clerk to the National Assembly. He also had a stint at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State.

In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Speaker Abbas described the late Fika as a dedicated public servant who served Nigeria with integrity, professionalism and uncommon commitment.

The Speaker said Fika’s death was a painful loss not only to the National Assembly but also to the country, noting that the former parliamentary administrator played a significant role in strengthening the nation’s legislative institution.

According to the statement, the late former Clerk left an enduring legacy through his commitment to excellence, institutional development and public service.

Speaker Abbas prayed to Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

He also extended his condolences to Fika’s family, friends, associates, community, members of the Council of Retired Clerks and Secretaries of the National Assembly, as well as the management and staff of the National Assembly, praying for the fortitude to bear the loss.
