After five days in captivity, the abducted driver of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Akanbe, Mr Daniel Ogoshi has been released.
Ogoshi was released at about 8:15 on Saturday, our correspondent learnt on Sunday.
He was kidnapped at a friend’s residence around Ombi 2, near the state College of Agriculture in Lafia, the state capital on April 18th.
A family source said certain amount was paid before his release but failed to disclose the amount.
“We were prevailed upon not to disclose the amount or speak with journalists on the development,” he explained.
He said Ogoshi’s abductors had reached out to family members two days later and requested for certain sum as ransom for his release.
“There was a negotiation because the amount initially requested was too much,” he noted.
He said the inability to reach a middle ground by both parties as regards the ransom amount delayed his release by the abductors.
He said the victim was taken for medical examination shortly after he was released.
Our correspondent could not get the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel for more information on the development as he did not answer the calls put through to his phone.
