Kenya’s main opposition political party has announced that unknown men in plain clothes suspected to be police officers have waylaid and abducted the bodyguard of ODM/Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Hon. Raila Odinga while driving from home to work.
A statement issued on Wednesday by director of communications – ODM, Philip Etale disclosed that the bodyguard, Mr. Maurice Ogeta was heading to work when he was accosted by armed men who flagged him down and immediately bundled him into his car boot.
After driving for a few minutes, the vehicle stalled and they got him out of the boot to show them how to restart it before returning him to the boot and sped off to an unknown destination, the statement said.
This abduction comes in the wake of the unprovoked arrest of Hon. Babu Owino of Embakasi East on Tuesday night moments after arriving in Nairobi from Mombasa where he and other Members of Parliament from Nairobi County had been attending a meeting with officials from KERRA.
