The abductors of eight worshippers at the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) Church, Omugo inĀ Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State are yet to reach out to the community or the victims family for ransom.
The bandits attackedĀ the church during service on Sunday and abducted eight worshippers.
Some security and community leaders contacted by LEADERSHIP yesterday said there have been no communication from the bandits and demand for ransom.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Joint Security Watch Kwara South, Elder Olaitan Oyin- Zubair, has called on the concerned authorities to act swiftly to rescue the abductees.
He made the call in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Ilorin yesterday.
Oyin-Zubair noted that technology, vigilance and collective action were required to secure the Kwara South communities.
The statement reads: ” We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims and families affected by the recent bandit attack on the ECWA Church in Omugo, Oro-Ago community. We are outraged and frustrated that despite warnings from Joint Security Watch Kwara South, our leaders failed to act. It’s time for proactive leadership.
“Politicians have sent empathy messages, but we demand action. We need technology, vigilance, and collective action to secure our communities.
Join forces with security agencies, support community initiatives, and push for real solutions.
“Enough is enough. Show us action, not just statements. Let’s work together to protect Kwara South.”
