AbdulRazaq’s Legacy Will Shape Kwara’s Future – Abolore

Kwara State commissioner for Solid Minerals Development , Dr Afeez Abolore,  has said the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has brought hope and inspiration to the state with his people-centred programmes and policies.

Alabi expressed optimism that the legacy of AbdulRazaq, who is also the Chairman, Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum (NGF), would continue to shape the future of the state even for yet unborn generations.

He stated this in Ilorin, the state capital at the public lecture organised by the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to commemorate  of the  governor ‘s 65th Birthday on February 5, 2025.

The lecture was themed “Legacy of Leadership: Examining the Long Term Impact of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Governance on Kwarans”.

At the event were senior adviser /  counselor to the governor, Alh Saadu Salahu, a state lawmaker, Mrs Maryam Aladi, commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Usman  Lade, special adviser on Media , Alh Bashir Adigun, senior special assistant on Religion (Islam ), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro; his counterpart on Community Development, Dr Lawal

Olohungbebe , Alhaji LAK  Jimoh; Dr Baba Kolo Jiya; and Professor Badmas  Yusuf,  among others.

Recalling that the AbdulRazaq’s administration faced challenges such as huge debts and infrastructural deficits, Abolore posited that the governor spared no effort in navigating them due to his desire to genuinely serve the people.

“As we examine the legacy of Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges that his administration faced.

From inherited huge debts and infrastructural deficits to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn, the Governor has held his head up, sparing no strength nor effort to navigate complex and competing demands.

“Despite these challenges, Governor AbdulRazaq has remained committed to his vision for a better Kwara State. His leadership has been characterized by a willingness to listen, a commitment to transparency and a focus on delivering tangible results”, Abolore said.

He noted that the AbdulRazaq’s administration has turned around the state’s fortunes with manifestation in health, education social development and infrastructure development.

He added: “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq took office with a clear vision for a prosperous and sustainable Kwara State, demonstrating a commitment to good governance, transparency and accountability. His administration’s policies and programmes are designed to focus on various sectors, including legacy project, infrastructural development, urban renewal initiative, healthcare, education, agriculture, social welfare and economic empowerment, environments, ease of doing business amongst others.

“A significant element of his governance has been the emphasis on community engagement. By prioritising dialogue with Kwarans and encouraging participation in the development process, AbdulRazaq established a governance model that places the people at the centre of decision making.”

Earlier, the state chairman of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, had said the union convened the event in appreciation of the vision and charismatic leadership that Governor AbdulRazaq had demonstrated, leading to massive infrastructure for the benefit of the people of the  state.
