Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State have said the former minister of mines and steel development, Dr. Uche Ogah, is on his own in his pursuit of the APC 2023 governorship ticket.
The chairman and secretary of the APC in the state, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu and Chief Chidi Avajah respectively stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital.
It was observed that members of the state working committee of the APC in the state shunned the arrival of Ogah in Umuahia to celebrate a court judgement which favoured him with the ticket last Friday.
Ononogbu said; “It is an irony that Ogah, who transferred his case to Abuja using ‘security challenges in Abia’ as pretext has now returned to the same Abia to celebrate what he considers as court victory.”
He said Ogah had demonstrated in very clear terms that he had no love for the people of the state and was insensitive to their sufferings in the hands of the ruling PDP.
Explaining that Ogah’s activities were geared towards assisting those holding the state down to maintain their grip, he questioned the rationale behind celebrating “a dummy ticket”, which would serve him no good.
“We know the source of the inglorious music he and his misguided followers are dancing to but I can assure them that our party is stronger than these agents of distraction and destabilization,” he said.
Ononogbu, who described Ogah’s announced plan to embark on campaign as a pipedream, added that that it was akin to building a house in the air as he has no party base to embark on such political venture.
Similarly, Avajah expressed regret that the former minister would be hell bent on pursuing personal interest to the detriment of the state even Abia, a state crying to be liberated from bad governance.
“The party has duly made its choice and nothing can detract from the fact that High Chief Ikechi Emenike is the governorship candidate of APC for the 2023 governorship poll in the state,” he noted.
He urged the members and the residents of the state who are committed to liberate the state “to ignore Ogah and his gang of mischief makers and forge ahead with the task of winning the poll under the leadership of Emenike.”
