Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tackled the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu over his “ambivalent and deceitful political antics” to cover his anti-party activities.
The party in a statement signed by its state publicity secretary, Chief Okey Ezeala, said that Kalu has been playing double standards, adding that the interview he granted Arise TV on Tuesday morning was no different from his trademark political equivocation.
According to the Abia main opposition party, Kalu’s statements in the said interview, was “laced with lies and falsehood unexpected from a senator and a party member.”
The party on which platform Kalu went to the Senate in 2019 after two previous failed attempts, described him as “a drowning man” who is clutching to any available thing to stay afloat.
It challenged the Abia North senator to deny the fact that his second term senatorial ticket was made possible by High Chief Ikechi Emenike, the governorship candidate of APC in Abia State.
The party said that it was not deceived by Kalu’s pretence that he is supporting the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that the former Abia governor was not sincere in his support for Tinubu.
According to Abia APC, Kalu had all the while been supporting the presidential flag bearer of the opposition PDP but “now realizing that Tinubu will win, is coming around to salvage himself from the back door.”
“The party is not perturbed, however, by antics of such a drowning man, who is obviously seeking cheap public attention as though his much-touted endorsement has ever earned anyone a political victory,” the APC said.
It also reiterated its assertion that Kalu “is supporting his blood brother Mascot Uzor Kalu”, who is the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) and at the same time pretending to be supporting Emenike’s candidacy.
“How can any reasonable politician be ambivalent supporting two gubernatorial candidates concurrently,” the APC wondered aloud.
