The chief Imam of Abia State, Sheik Ali Ukiwe, has urged the state’s Muslim community to observe Ramadan faithfully according to Islam’s teachings.
Ukiwe spoke to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital, saying observing the fast attracts Allah’s forgiveness of sins, blessings, and mercy upon the faithful.
“I want them to use this month of Rahama to renew their lives because if they fear God, have self-restraint and guard against evil, God will forgive them their past sins,” he said.
The sheikh also urged the faithful to live well, obey the laws of the Almighty Allah as enshrined in the Holy Qur’an, and be kind and good to both loyal and faithful alike.
“Therefore, they should maintain peace and pray hard to the Almighty Allah and also make sure that this month doesn’t end without their sins forgiven by Him.”
Ukiwe noted that the period involves lectures, reading, and interpreting the Quran in Mosques and stressed that the faithful should endeavour to attend them.
The Abiriba, Ohafia local government area-born leader described the relationship between the state and the community as cordial, assuring their desire to partner with the government.
“The governor, Dr Alex Otti, has been excellent and relates well to us. We prayed hard for his victory, and seeing what he is doing, we will continue to pray for him,” he added.
