Prince Charles Amanze has called for the presentation of the best candidates for selection as the traditional ruler of Nsirimo Amaise autonomous community in Umuahia South local government area of Abia State.

Amanze made the observation while addressing a world press conference in Umunelu, saying the emergence of such a ruler would ensure peace and accelerate the community’s socioeconomic development.

He expressed concern that the stool had been vacant since the former monarch’s demise over eight years ago due to orchestrated internal wranglings among the leaders.

He also regretted that successive administrations in the state had failed to bring development to the community for decades, a narrative he argued would require a committed and diligent ruler to change.

“I presented myself to occupy the stool about four years ago to offer committed leadership that will not be just for the head, but more of the heart,” the prince explained.

He said that within the period, he and his team had made significant efforts to ensure economic growth, improve infrastructure, and support local businesses, elders, and youths.

“We have also taken concrete steps to address environmental concerns, implement sustainable practices in governance, and encouraged businesses to do the same,” he said.

“Our goal is to preserve our natural resources for future generations and foster unity and understanding. We have established programmes for inter-community dialogue, cultural exchange, and conflict resolutions.

“We’re committed to building bridges and promoting common understanding to achieve our goals of unity and progress.

“Our advisory council ensures diverse perspectives are represented, and we will drive our leadership process with a vowed commitment to transparency, accountability, and all inclusion,” he added.

The prince expressed the hope that the Alex Otti-led administration in the state will address the community’s challenges, as “our plans have found rhythms with his developmental efforts.”

While noting that the administration had raised the state’s development bar, the candidate congratulated Otti on his one year in office and solicited support for him.

Amanze recalled that his supporters had previously presented him for the mayor and the local government on March 25 and 27, respectively, for the office and expressed gratitude to them.

He said he was aware that not all community members share the same opinion and assured those yet to present their candidate that he hears and acknowledges their voices and concerns.

“I urge you to continue the democratic process and present your own candidate if they qualify for the process, as it is your right and as well theirs to do so,” he told them.

“Having this in mind, let us remember that our community’s strength lies in our diversity and our ability to engage in constructive dialogue. I pledge to work tirelessly to unite our community and ensure every voice is heard,” he said.
