Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Enyinnaya, the son of Theodore Orji, a former governor of Abia State had on Monday tendered his resignation from the PDP.
The ex-speaker, who briefed some of his close supporters on Monday night, said the move had become very necessary, following some issues rocking the party.
In a letter addressed to the PDP chairman, Urban Ward 1, Umuahia North, the former Speaker said, “This is to formally notify you of my resignation from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today.
“Kindly note that this decision is taken after extensive consultations.
“I thank the Party for giving me the platform which clminated in my being elected as Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.”
