Abia State government has established a help desk in the office of the accountant general to handle complaints about salaries and pensions by civil servants and pensioners in the state.
This followed complaints by some civil servants and pensioners about non payment of their salaries and pensions due to the ongoing staff verification, audit and human resources management.
The state commissioner for information and culture, Okey Kanu, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive committee meeting in Umuahia, the state capital.
“Any civil servant or pensioner who has issue about payment of salaries or pension arising from the verification exercise should take advantage of the desk to settle the issue,” he said.
He restated the commitment of the administration to settle arrears of salaries and pensions before the end of December.
The Alex Otti administration, on assumption, launched the verification exercise to check ghost worker and verify the number of pensioners.
